Alex Kriss
In the winter of 2003, Alex Kriss began recording his special brand of strange, sad folk-pop art-rock in the basement of his childhood home in Boston. He produced an LP that winter and an EP the following summer, both under the name "The Cyan Mantis."
After the summer of '04 Alex started writing new songs and focusing more on self-promotion and live gigs. He started with the open mic circuit (his first ever being the UMO Open Mic, which is still his favorite), and has since started playing at various venues all over Manhattan (and perhaps other boroughs someday? I don't know, they're a little scary).
Now Alex is playing at as many places he can as often as he can. He hopes to record something of some kind sometime this summer. He likes hearing from interesting people so you should go to his website (www.WhatATragedy.com) and email him or something.
