UMO Member Web Site Help

How to Log-On
How to (Best) Utilize the Event-Id When Posting a Gig
I Forgot to Logoff - Is This A Problem?
I Still Have Member Questions or Technical Problems

How To Log-On
(once you have your UMO User-id and Password).

Step 1. From any Songwriter, Musician, Supporter page, click on 'Member Login' (Located about halfway down the page).

Step 2.
You will then see a User Id and Password field. Enter your 'User Id' and 'Password' EXACTLY as you received it. (Including any capital letters, special characters and spaces)

Step 3.
If entered correctly, you will see a page that asks which 'Page You Would Like to Visit' along with the following choices Fan, Songwriter, Musician, and Industry Member. (If you want to post your gigs you will probably prefer to visit the Musicians Page.)

Step 4.
Once on the Musicians page Scroll down to the 'Add a Show', 'Modify' or 'Delete a Show', etc, to manage your gigs.

Step5.
What should be entered in each of the fields should be self explanatory with the possible exception of the Event-ID. (See 'Event-ID' for more if you are not sure how to best utilize this field.

How To (Best) Utilize the Event-ID when posting a Gig

The purpose of the Event-Id is to provide a UNIQUE Identifier for Each Individual show that you enter. It can be anything that you prefer to use, however, please keep the following in mind.

1. Most Important! - Never try to use the same Event-ID that is already in use by you or another artist. The entry of an Event ID that is already on file is now blocked. If you get an error message, it is probably because you or someone else is using the event id. Check the Event-Id's listed using the "List Shows & Event Id's" on the menu if you get a database update problem. HINT - The best way to guarantee there is no clash between Event-Id's is to include a piece of the artist's name in the Event-Id. (For example "Lori6/8/2001" or "BobJet").

2. Some members prefer to use just their show date as the Event ID, however, if another person has already used the date as an Event Id, it is no longer available to you as an Event Id.

3. You can use anything you want as an Event ID but if you use a logical method to create Event Id's you will not always have to look them up in order to modify or delete show information.

4. Although there is an automatic deletion of past show dates some past shows may still be on the "List Shows & Event Id's" list even though they do not appear on the public Concert Calendar. In these cases those Event Id's are not available and you will have to use a different Event Id, until the automatic deletion takes place.

I Forgot to Log Off, Is This a Problem

Although, UMO has been set up to be as simple to use as possible, including the ability to leave the web site without having to Log-Off, it is highly recommended. The reason that Log-Off has not been forced, is that some members have unreliable internet connections and by not forcing Log-Off UMO can never lock-up your Internet session. Having said that, here are a few good reasons to try to log off;

1. Every time you visit UMO, your session will always run at maximum speed.

2. You will guarantee that you get a higher level of security for your information and gigs.

3. If you want to leave your computer online for extended periods of time while you are not there, you can be sure that no one is messing with your UMO music information.
