Singers, Songwriters & Musicians - Get On The UMO Music

"Best Of Greenwich Village" - Compilation CD

Performances are recorded live at the UMO Open Mic & Showcase, over a period of months until UMO gets what it considers to be the "Best Songs and Best Performances" (*see note at bottom of this page).

Here's How It Works;

Every performer (who is doing Original Songs) is digitally recorded (unless "no recording" is requested).
After all recordings have been made, the tapes will be reviewed and the "Best Songs and Best Performances", (*see note at bottom of this page), will be selected.
Those artists whose songs were selected will receive a "Non-Exclusive" permission slip to sign. This slip will grant permission to UMO Music to distribute their song on the UMO Music "Best Songwriters" Compilation CD. Since this is a Non-Exclusive permission, artists are free to continue to shop their songs to major record labels.
Songwriters retain complete ownership of their songs. As stated above, you give UMO Music permission to include your song on this promotional CD.
All costs of production will be paid for by UMO Music and its supporters. There will be no cost to the artists. Also, you are free to use the CD for purposes of your own promotion and as a demo for obtaining gigs, record label or music publisher.
The compilation will be distributed on UMO.com, Online CD Retailers, and Various venues in the Greenwich Village area.
UMO will provide opportunities for the songwriter to make some money through personal CD sales.

*Note - Here is the criteria for selection of the Best Songs And Performances.

1. The song MUST be an original song for which you own the copyright. (This is for your own protection).

2. The performance of the song must be flawless. (If you made a mistake while playing a song which you would like to see on the CD, just play the song again at this weeks UMO Open Mic/Showcase and it will be recorded again.)

3. If your song is selected for "possible" inclusion, you must sign a "Non-Exclusive" release to allow UMO Music to promote the CD with your song on it. (The "Non-Exclusive" gives you the freedom to continue to seek a publisher, record company, or other outlet for your music, even while it is on the UMO "Best Of" CD.)
